Despite a slow down in the economics of South East Asia, Malaysia, manufacturing is still important under the nine Malaysia plans. The government has earmarked an 18per cent rise in public development spending to RM200 billion from 2006 to 2010. Private investment grew 11.4 percent in the first quarter of 2006, exceeding the 11.2 percent per annual target set under the government development plan for 2006-2010.
