Sabah is the venue for MFG 2008 - the 11th presentation in East Malaysia most established important event in the manufacturing, machine tool and industrial machinery in the BIMP-EAGA region. It is the only one largest annual multi-sector manufacturing & industrial trade fair which incorporating multi-sectors of manufacturing and industry exhibitions under one roof servicing the needs of East Malaysia - Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan, Southern Philipines, Brunei and Indonesia. Sabah is the second largest of the 13 states of Malaysia with population of 3.2 million peoples .It's strategically located in the center of BIMP-EAGA, stands of Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, largest regional grouping, spanning territories of four ASEAN Countries. EAGA comprises the entire sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, Kalimantan, Sulewasi, Maluku, and Irian Jaya; Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan in Malaysia; and Mindanao and Palawan in the Philippines. Its land area of roughly 1.54 million square Kilometers is home to more than 50 million peoples.
Sabah economics is still open and hence is subject to the vagaries of exogenous factor, with an increasingly globalize and rapidly changing world economy. The buoyant economic activities at manufacturing services have been identified as the main growth sectors accounting for (6.9) percent of the total (8) percent GDP growth! The manufacturing sector alone is expected to continue (33.1) percent to the total share of the GDP by the year 2010 form (9.1) percent in 1990!
The Manufacturing sector will continue to be an important engine growth for the Malaysian of development undet the Nine Malaysia Plan (9MP), has added a major boost to the sustainability and buoyant growth of Malaysian economy ovet the next five years. Under the 9th Malaysia Plan, the government has earmarked an 18 percent rise in public development spending to RM200 billion form 2006 to 2010. Private investment grew from 11.4 percent in the first quarter of 2006, exceeding the 11.2 percent for annual target set under government development plan for 2006-2010.
